Surah Duha 1.34

Surat ad-Duḥa, meaning "The Morning Hours" in Arabic, is the ninety-third sura of the Qur'an consisting of 11 ayat. The Surah derives its name Ad-Duhaa from its opening word.

Belonging to the Meccan Suras, Surah ad-Duha was revealed during a period of pause in revelation when the Prophet Muhammad (S) was facing adversity and criticism from enemies. The verses descended upon him like a revitalizing shower, providing him with renewed strength to silence his detractors.

This Surah commences with two oaths, assuring the Prophet (S) of Allah's continuous support and comforting him with the promise of abundant provisions in the future.

The conclusion of the Surah encourages kindness towards orphans and the needy, stressing on treating them with compassion and generosity.

According to a tradition narrated from the Prophet Muhammad (S), reciting this Surah earns one Allah's pleasure and potential intercession from the Prophet himself, with additional rewards for acts of charity towards orphans and those in need.

It is believed that Surah ad-Duha and its succeeding chapter, Inshirah, together form a single Surah. Hence, in prayers, reciting both these Suras consecutively is recommended based on various narrations and scholarly consensus.
